19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hardcourt
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his first championship for 882 days with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.
The Russian, a former world number one, has endured a difficult period, winning just a single victory at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the US Open.
His unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his service game in particular - caused him falling of the world's top 10 and ultimately parting ways with long-term trainer Gilles Cervara.
Now collaborating with his coach and his other coach, he has steadily improved in the last few weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over challenger Corentin Moutet.
This represents Medvedev's maiden championship after the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hardcourt after March of 2023.
Success also means the Russian has achieved 21 titles at 21 distinct events.
"This marks the first occasion I have attended a tournament with my both daughters together, so to win a trophy is especially meaningful," stated world number 14 the champion.
"This championship is in honour of my child my daughter, because the initial championship I achieved when my child her name was born was for her."
The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his previous six finals, including in Halle in the past months.
The player's retrieving strategy and frequent reactions on the tennis court had prompted observers to question if his ability to perform at the top level was finished.
However the athlete has altered his approach in the last few weeks, attempting to approach the net and perform positively, backed up by an better service.
The champion came back from a deficit in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, winning 4 of the final five points to gain the advantage.
The pair swapped breaks in the following set before the challenger, bidding for his maiden professional victory, took control to create a third set.
The opponent saved four early break points in a competitive third set before the champion secured a break to that score to secure the win.
Appropriately, Medvedev earned the win with a point at the net, with Moutet incapable to control a volley after over two and a half hours.
